2013 Rheem Apprentice Grants
14 June 2013
$25,000 worth of grants to provide a helping hand
Committed to your plumbing apprenticeship but starting to feel the financial strain? Have a go at scoring one of 25 Apprentice Plumber Grants from Rheem, worth $1000 each.
Opening 1 July, the grants program is open to apprentice plumbers in Australia who are most likely to be feeling short of cash. One of the best things about this grant is that there are no restrictions on how recipients spend it; for example, last year’s recipients used their cash for tools, further education and fuel to get to and from work or TAFE.
To celebrate its 75th anniversary last year, and to show support for those who are the future of the plumbing industry, Rheem launched the Apprentice Plumber Grants program in 2012, with 75 apprentice plumbers receiving $1000 grants.
Judges for the 2013 Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants will especially be looking for applicants who are most in need of financial assistance, plus those who may be helping in the community or have future plans to do so – such as last year’s entrant Aaron Stephens, who wants to direct his attention towards providing plumbing services to those in remote communities.
“My ultimate goal is to eventually own my own business as a plumber, but also be a helicopter pilot,” says Aaron. “I realise this is a very large goal, but I believe I can make it happen with a lot of dedication, hard work and saving. So every little but of money I get I save, and this grant will certainly help me get to where I want to be.”
With entries such as Aaron’s, its no surprise the judges in 2012 were very impressed with the very high standard of applications.
“It’s obvious there are a lot of apprentices of all ages who are committed to the plumbing industry, but might need a helping hand,” Rheem Australia CEO Matt Sexton says.
“Indeed, it’s clear that many apprentices have made considerable financial and personal sacrifices to enter the trade and further their careers. With that in mind, we wanted to provide some assistance to help successful recipients in achieving their dreams and career objectives.”
