Northside Clinic

Rheem's Next Generation of Commercial Water Heating

Issue 2: December 2017

Rheem Tankpak and Guardian Warm Water chosen for redeveloped Northside Clinic

Established by philanthropist Paul Ramsay in 1964, Ramsay Health Care has grown to become a true Australian success story, operating over 220 hospitals and day surgery facilities internationally, and is today one of the top five private hospital operators in the world.

The first purpose-built mental health facility to be opened by Ramsay back in 1973, the Northside Clinic on Sydney’s lower north shore is undergoing a major transformation, with a new purpose-built 112-room mental health facility due to open in early 2018. It has been relocated and is designed to replace the existing Northside Clinic in Greenwich.

Embodying the latest in hospital design trends, the new facility will include large outdoor spaces, an art studio, wellness centre, gymnasium and café, in addition to educational facilities for doctors, nurses and psychologists. There will also be a number of day services offered from a number of on-site consulting suites.

“All over Australia, we’re experiencing a growing demand for mental health services,” says Anne Mortimer, CEO, Northside Clinic. “The expansion of Northside Clinic, which has been a premier mental health clinic in Sydney for over 40 years, will ensure quality services are more accessible to people in need.”

Tankpak Series 2 with Guardian Warm Water

Working in partnership with hydraulic consultant Warren Smith & Partners and contractors GM Considine Plumbing, Rheem Commercial recommended a Rheem Tankpak Series 2 commercial gas hot water plant with two Rheem Guardian Warm Water units and UV disinfection.

“The innovative Rheem Tankpak system uses a combination of our industry leading continuous flow technology and storage. And when installed with Rheem’s Guardian Warm Water, it’s the ideal solution to meet the hot water demands of such a facility,” says Josh Elliot, Commercial Sales Manager, Rheem Commercial NSW.

“Guardian Warm Water is one of the most flexible solutions available to provide centralised warm water below 60°C for special needs applications, and it certainly meets the brief for this new development.”

The bespoke system will consist of the following models to successfully meet the estimated peak hot water hour load of 5,033 litres:

Hot Water Plant: 1 x Rheem Tankpak Series 2 commercial gas hot water plant model TPI06NFD/2430

Warm Water Plant: 2 x Rheem Guardian Warm Water units model 940160 with 2 x Rheem Guardian UV disinfection units model 940002
